Frequently asked questions

What was The Hammer designed to do?

The Hammer was built around a simple idea:

One muzzle device for control and suppression.

Its purpose-built geometry was engineered to improve muzzle control while maintaining a compact footprint across multiple host platforms.

The Hammer is optimized as a Plan B-compatible suppressor host, allowing it to function as both a standalone muzzle brake and a mounting interface for compatible suppressor systems.

This dual-purpose design reduces unnecessary size and complexity while preserving the flexibility to run the host suppressed or unsuppressed.

Built for Control. Built for Suppression. Designed Without Compromise.

What calibers is The Hammer designed to support?

The Hammer utilizes a common-bore architecture designed to support a broad range of host applications.

Current compatibility includes:

.223 Remington / 5.56 NATO

7.62×39

9mm

.300 Blackout

.308 Winchester / 7.62 NATO

5.45×39

.22 LR

.22 WMR

.17 HMR

.204 Ruger

7.62×54R

.357 Magnum

.38 Special

Compatibility depends on more than caliber alone. Always confirm the selected thread pattern, barrel configuration, projectile diameter, and suppressor or mounting-system requirements before installation.

Is The Hammer Plan B compatible?

Yes.

The Hammer is designed around the Plan B mounting interface for use with compatible suppressors, adapters, and mounting systems.

Always verify compatibility with the specific suppressor, adapter, and manufacturer requirements being used.

What thread patterns are available?

The Hammer is currently offered in:

1/2×28

A revised M14×1 LH AK face-mount version is currently in development.

Prototype testing confirmed the performance we wanted from The Hammer, but we decided to further refine the AK mounting interface before production.

Additional configurations may be introduced in future production runs.

Does The Hammer require timing?

Yes.

The Hammer is a directional muzzle device and must be properly indexed during installation.

The included shim system allows the device to be timed while maintaining proper thread engagement and contact with the intended mounting surface.

Installation should be completed by someone familiar with proper muzzle-device installation.

Is timing hardware included?

Yes.

Each Hammer includes the timing hardware appropriate for its thread pattern:

1/2×28: Shoulder-mount timing shims

M14×1 LH: Face-mount timing shims for compatible AK-pattern hosts

The two shim systems are not interchangeable. Use only the timing hardware supplied with your Hammer.

Should suppressor alignment be checked after installation?

Yes.

Suppressor alignment should always be verified before firing whenever The Hammer is used as a suppressor mount.

PW Labs recommends checking alignment with the appropriate alignment rod after installation and whenever the muzzle device, suppressor, adapter, or barrel configuration changes.

Do not fire the system if alignment is uncertain or if the suppressor contacts the alignment rod.

Why does The Hammer use a common-bore design?

The common-bore architecture allows The Hammer to support a broad range of compatible hosts while simplifying product selection and system configuration.

Caliber compatibility does not override thread-pattern, mounting-surface, suppressor, or manufacturer-specific requirements.

Can The Hammer be used without a suppressor?

Yes.

The Hammer functions as a standalone muzzle brake. Its Plan B compatibility also allows it to serve as a mounting interface for compatible suppressor systems.

Does The Hammer prioritize aesthetics or performance?

Both matter.

But performance comes first.

Every visual detail is intentional. Every design decision begins with function.

Is The Hammer made in the USA?

Yes.

Every Hammer Brake is manufactured in the United States from domestically machined 17-4 stainless steel.

Do you offer a 14×1 LH option for AK platforms?

Yes.

For 14×1 LH AK platforms, check out The Sickle Brake.

The Sickle was purpose-built around the AK platform with a face-mount architecture, three-sided port geometry, no rotational timing requirement, and Plan B-compatible suppressor mounting.
